Abstract

We present a review of optical spectropolarimetry of two supernovae (SNe) with Subaru/FOCAS. We also give a short description of the current performance of FOCAS polarimetry. The observed SNe were both energetic type Ic SNe similar to the prototype of `hypernova', SN 1998bw. We attempt to explain observed polarization properties with a viewing angle effect for bipolar SN explosions.
